The Minister of Interior in Turkey has announced that 36 individuals have been apprehended in various recent operations on suspicion of having ties to ISIS-Khawarij.
Ali Yerlikaya informed the press on Sunday that the aforementioned individuals were detained in Istanbul, Izmir, Eskisehir, and Kayseri provinces, alongside weapons and foreign currency.
He stated that these individuals were involved in financing and arming ISIS, and that their cases will be transferred to the appropriate judicial authorities.
It is imperative to note that following the emergence of ISIS Kharijites, Turkey has remained a significant hub for the transit of ISIS militants and the recruitment and transportation of individuals for this extremist group. However, the Turkish government has recently initiated a decisive crackdown on the Kharijites, resulting in the arrests of numerous individuals suspected of having connections to ISIS.
