American media reported last week that eight Tajiks have been arrested in three states on suspicion of being affiliated with ISIS.
According to reports, these individuals had entered the United States through the southern borders under the guise of refugees and were most likely planning to carry out attacks organized by ISIS.
Recently, the New York Post, an American newspaper, stated that in the last five months of 2024, at least 500 Tajik citizens have been arrested in America on various suspicions.
Based on certain documents, the newspaper reported that in the past three and a half years, approximately 1,500 Tajik citizens have entered the United States under the pretense of immigrants, but they are now all viewed with suspicion and may face deportation.
In its report, the New York Post referred to Tajikistan as a hotspot for ISIS recruitment and mentioned that ISIS aims to carry out attacks in the United States using citizens from Tajikistan, similar to their strategies in other nations.
The news of the arrest of Tajik ISIS members in America is circulating at a time when Germany has also expressed concern about potential attacks orchestrated by ISIS through Tajik citizens.
In recent months, the world has been focusing on the potential threats posed by Tajik citizens and is working to prevent ISIS from exploiting individuals from this country.
For instance, following the attack in Moscow, Russia has heightened restrictions on Tajiks residing, working, and traveling within its borders, while Turkey has suspended visa exemptions for citizens of Tajikistan.
The recent arrests and circumstances have forced Western nations to re-evaluate their policies towards the authoritarian government and inhabitants of Tajikistan.
